Camps Bay is a suburb located in Cape Town, South Africa. Dominated by the "12 Apostles" mountain range, Camps Bay is an affluent suburb with palm-fringed white sand beaches. Its nightlife attracts numerous South African and foreign tourists. Camps Bay is one of the most exclusive areas on the outskirts of Cape Town. In the heart of Camps Bay lies Camps Bay Beach, a magical stretch of pure white sand, surrounded by the ocean on one side and the Twelves Apostles Mountains on the other. Come for a picnic or a swim, or stroll along the palm-filled boulevard with its trendy cafés, restaurants and stores. If you decide to swim, respect the areas designated by the lifeguards, and be careful because the water is known to be very cold, you have been warned! In the summer, Camps Bay Beach can be crowded. If you're looking for some peace and quiet, consider driving 10 minutes south along the scenic Victoria Road to Oudekraal Beach. Nestled at the southern end of Camps Bay is a large tidal pool. It's also a great place to cool off if swimming in the waves is too icy. To walk around Camps Bay, we recommend Pipe Track, a very popular mountain trail that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, especially when the sun goes down, it reflects in the water and gives a magical dimension to the place. This walk extends over 3.7 miles (6 km). Enjoy the nightlife in Camps Bay, go to one of the many seafood restaurants that have an excellent reputation, or go for a cocktail in its beach bars, you can even go to the Theatre on the Bay which hosts many shows, from musicals and plays to comedy and cabaret.
